CityFolk returns! What a way to end the summer, coming this September 15-18, 2016.
You may be familiar with the updated “re-imagined” face and location of what was formally known as The Ottawa Folk Festival, this year is the second in its new venue at Lansdowne Park, in Ottawa, adjacent to TD Place. We are so fortunate to have not only Bluesfest, the Jazz Festival but also CityFolk only 4kms from each other here in Ottawa.
You’ve heard of all the big names we have drawn to our humble festival: Van Morrison, Lorde, Arlo Guthrie, Emmylou Harris, Blue Rodeo, The Levon Helm Band, Bruce Cockburn, Jim Cuddy, Feist, Kris Kristofferson, Rufus Wainwright, Valdy, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings and Steve Earle to name a few.
This years eclectic lineup also features popular Canadian acts like Dean Brody, Plants and Animals and Ottawa singer-songwriter Jim Bryson.
But what about the local “up and comers”! It is always amazing to see what talent lurks in our garages and backyard stages.
That is why we are so excited to talk about “Marvest” …basically the musical harvest of Ottawa’s local talent. “It is an offshoot of the CityFolk that runs between September 16th and 17th in The Glebe. Most Marvest shows are FREE! The focus of Marvest is to present Ottawa with a feast of locally produced music, food and drink- everything from within 100 miles of the region. Saturday afternoon shows both at Aberdeen Pavilion and in Bank Street venues will be family friendly. Marvest is all about bringing people together in appreciation of local music.”
Tickets are on-sale now, see you there!
